Genuine is built so that everyone can use it, including people with disabilities. This statement covers the genuinemeet.com website and the Genuine app for iOS and Android. It is published under Israel's Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013.
Standard
We aim to meet Israeli Standard 5568 (based on WCAG 2.0) at level AA, and work to the newer WCAG 2.1 at level AA.
What we have done on the website
- Every page works with a keyboard alone. A "Skip to content" link is the first thing you reach, and the focused element always shows a clear outline.
- Pages use real headings, lists and landmarks, so screen readers can move around them, and each page states its language and direction (Hebrew right to left, English left to right).
- Text and controls meet the AA contrast ratios in both light and dark mode, and the site follows your device's setting.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% and the layout adapts down to a narrow phone screen without scrolling sideways.
- Nothing moves or changes by itself. The screens on the home page change only when you swipe or choose the next one, and smooth scrolling is turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Images that carry information have a text alternative; the drawings of the app's screens are described in words.
- The site has no time limits, no pop-ups and no scripts.
What we have done in the app
- Every control has a label for VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android), and messages are read together with the time they were sent.
- Text follows your device's text size, including the largest accessibility sizes.
- Tap targets are at least 44 points on iOS and 48 dp on Android.
- Animations stop when your device asks for reduced motion; the intro video can be paused, skipped, and waits for you when a screen reader is on.
- The app works fully in Hebrew and English, right to left and left to right.
Known limitations
- The app has not yet been reviewed by an external accessibility auditor; that review is planned before the public release.
- Photos that members upload have no text description, since we can't write one for them. Each photo is announced with its position, for example "Photo 2 of 4".
- GIFs in chat, when they are available, are described only by the word "GIF".
If something on the site or in the app doesn't work for you, please tell us. We will fix it, or give you the information or service another way.
